The goal of Songstyles.store is to create high quality songstyles that gives you the best base for sounding great when you play.
I only program for Korg arrangers, since these (in my opponion!) are the best instruments available.
Actually the first keyboard I started programming on was a Korg I3 – at that time a rather advanced keyboard. Since then I moved to Roland G800,G1000 and finished with The G70. I have programmed hundreds of styles for Roland before moving back to Korg again.
The more technical stuff….
Creating styles takes some practice and a lot of time. Many things have to be taken into consideration before programming starts. The song you are trying to making an arrangement for, has to be listened to many times, before you get the hang of how the style should be build.
Especially drums and basslines are important. If programming one of these instruments fail, it doesn’t matter how good the rest of the instruments are playing – the style will not be good.
When you buy a style that I’ve programmed, you can be sure, that each instrument has a matching level throughout the variations and fill-ins. All notes have meticulously been inspected to make sure levels aren’t suddenly our of proportion.
I take pride in getting as close to the original song as possible, but it is always a question of compromises!
First of all we have 5 tracks to put in instruments besides, bass, drums and percussions. Compared to a standard midifile that has 16 tracks – so some nuances has to be left out. In cases where specific lines are left out, I make use of some artistic freedom and may create instrumental lines that may not be a part of the original arrangement. I do this if makes sense to prevent the style from sounding “empty”. Also it makes the styles a bit more versatile, so you are controlling the style and not the other way around.
Some styles have a small learning curve. This means that getting from a chorus to a verse may require using the right fill in – or the use of the Break. In some cases the break may be 2 or 3 measures long. But to make it easy for you to learn, some of the more advanced styles are provided with my suggestions to use fill ins.
For my own personal taste when I am playing in public, I use drumsamples from Dynamix Audio – this really gives the arrangements that extra punch and makes you sound your best.
